Professor Bjørn Enge Bertelsen joins the post as Academic Director of the Holberg Prize on 1 January, 2022. Han takes over from Professor Ellen Mortensen, who has been Academic Director since 2015.
Today, the 2020 and 2021 Holberg Prizes were conferred upon Professor Griselda Pollock and Professor Martha C. Nussbaum, respectively. The Nils Klim Prize was conferred upon Daria Gritsenko (2021) and Frederik Poulsen (2020).
American philosopher Martha C. Nussbaum is awarded the 2021 Holberg Prize for her groundbreaking contributions to research in law and philosophy. The Nils Klim Prize goes to the Russian-Finnish political scientist Daria Gritsenko.
The Holberg Board has decided who will be awarded the Holberg Prize and the Nils Klim Prize in 2021. They have also decided to establish a nomination pool for each of the Prizes.
The Holberg Prize is an international research prize in the humanities, social sciences, law and theology. The nomination form for the 2022 Holberg Prize is now open and the deadline is 15 June 2021.
